Promoting free competition
Swedegas is working to bring about an open LNG market with unrestricted competition according to the Open Access principle, where the end customer is free to choose its gas provider and to purchase LNG at the best price on the world market. Open Access guarantees that no regional monopoly will arise for an individual gas provider.
LNG is transported from the LNG terminal by rail and road to parts of Sweden that have no access to natural gas or where access is very limited. If the terminal is connected to a regional gas grid, the region's biogas producers have access to a more efficient distribution system and they can increase their capacity. Delivery of vehicle gas to filling stations is also facilitated.
If the terminal is on the West Coast, such as the one in Gothenburg, it can also be connected to the Swedegas gas grid.
