Being a balance administrator (BA) means having financial responsibility for ensuring that the balance between gas supplied and withdrawn is maintained at the supply and offtake points covered by the BA.
Under the Natural Gas Act, a gas supplier may only supply gas at an offtake point for which a company has taken on the role of balance administrator (BA). Either the gas supplier takes on this role or brings in another company.
To become a BA, a balance administrator agreement must be signed with Swedegas. Read more about this under Becoming a balance administrator. The BA plans the balance between supply and offtake. An imbalance is adjusted financially in the Swedegas balance settlement. Read more about this under Market model.
