Swedegas publishes the Gas Regional Investment Plan 2014-2023

Swedegas together with other Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of the BEMIP region have released the second edition of the Gas Regional Investment Plan (GRIP), which covers the planned investment projects within 10 year period from 2014 to 2023 in the region.

GRIP was prepared following the requirement of Article 12(1) of the Regulation (EC) 715/2009.

BEMIP GRIP provides a regional gas market development outlook, an update on regional initiatives and highlights the changes since the release of the first edition of BEMIP GRIP in March 2012. The present publication focuses on the analysis of the major gas infrastructure projects to be implemented within the region and their impact on the development of the regional gas market. BEMIP GRIP includes an update of data on the infrastructure projects in the region that was compiled and presented in Union-wide Ten Year Network Development Plan 2013-2022 in February 2013.

The BEMIP region currently may be regarded as one having high degree of dependency on a single supplier and the relatively low level of interconnections among the countries belonging to it. In such context, the TSOs of the BEMIP region aim to raise the awareness of the need for the development of the regional gas market and implementation of major infrastructure projects of gas transmission, liquefied natural gas terminals and gas storage facilities, integrating the gas markets of the region, diversifying gas sources and routes and enhancing the security of gas supply. The acknowledge importance of the development of gas infrastructure in the region is proven by the fact, that a total of 15 infrastructure projects belonging to the BEMIP region were included into the first Union-wide list of projects of common interest (PCI) approved on 14 October 2013.

Swedegas involved in preparation of BEMIP GRIP expects the current edition of the GRIP will be useful to its readers, bring awareness about development of gas market and gas infrastructure projects and contribute to the decision making process of gas market stakeholders. Swedegas warmly welcomes any comments and/or proposals to this edition of the GRIP that could help improve future editions.

We at Swedegas wish to thank the involving TSOs of the BEMIP GRIP for good collaboration. Special thanks to the Lithuanian TSO, Amber Grid, who coordinated the work in an excellent manner.

Here you can download the second edition of the GRIP of the BEMIP region, including the Annex. The report is also available on ENTSOGs website.

Should you have any comments or require any further information regarding the report, please contact the BEMIP GRIP coordinator Lina Rudzianskiene or the Swedegas responsible Alexander Ehrensvärd.
